What is Retained Search?

With retained search a portion of the expected finder fee is paid in advance, and in return SoftSource prioritizes that search ahead of all other searches, optimizing the timeline to completion and ensuring the most complete market coverage possible. Additionally, we introduce candidates for retained searches on an exclusive basis which means we don’t introduce them to other opportunities, and this minimizes the chances of having to compete with other companies for candidates.

When to Use Retained Search?

We recommend utilizing retained search in the following situations:

  • The search needs to remain confidential.
  • The search is for an executive-level position.
  • The timeline for completing the search is urgent.
  • The type of person needed is highly unique or specialized.

What Do I Get with a Retained Search?

We will assign SoftSource’s Managing Partner as your dedicated account manager and your search will be prioritized ahead of all other searches that that we are performing. We then perform a detailed needs analysis to understand your company’s value proposition, business strategy, and perceived obstacles to success in the Japan market. Once this is complete, we work with our researchers to map out the organizations of target companies and leverage our extensive professional network to identify the top-performers in those organizations.

We meet with all potential candidates in-person to screen, qualify, and evaluate their level of appropriateness for the position. We then select a short-list of the most qualified candidates, and at the same time make you aware of their motivation, level of interest, concern points, and any potential challenges to securing the candidate.

We do not introduce these candidates to other opportunities while you are evaluating them in order to minimize the likelihood of having to compete with other companies for their services.
In most cases we are able to complete retained searches within 60 days of engagement.
